Puerto Vallarta was transformed into a set for the umpteenth time as actors from the Mexican soap opera, “Corazones al Limite” (Hearts on the Edge) dropped onto the Vallarta scene last week to tape several days worth of episodes.
“The Vallartenses have treated us really well,” said Sara Maldonado who portrays the character Diana, “We’ve worked really hard, but nothing stressful. Everything has been really relaxed.”
Relaxed? Diana and Braulio are in love and exploring life’s surprises with the shy intensity of 17 year olds. Despite the dangers of teenage life in the 21st century – alcoholism, drug addiction, family problems – they somehow find the time to experience grand adventures, extreme sports and, of course, study. How do they find the time?
Oh, wait . . . that’s not real life. Just life on Hearts on the Edge.
This grand Vallarta lifestyle including jet skiing, horseback riding and yachting will be broadcast internationally and “promote tourism in Mexico and specifically Jalisco,” affirms Arturo Peniche, one of the program’s buff actors.
Marina Vallarta, the Lighthouse, Mismaloya, Hotel Marriott Casa Magna and Le Kliff were transformed into the playground and office of these young actors who, according to Laura del Villar, Public Relations Director of Vallarta Tourism, “received complete support from the city, - security when necessary and a waiver of certain fees.” Money that, according to Villar, will easily be recuperated with the publicity the famous soap will bring to Vallarta.
The results of the filming are yet to unfold . . . Will Diana and Braulio overcome adolescence and live happily ever after? Will Puerto Vallarta be invaded with youngsters looking for the good life? Will Hearts on the Edge find contentment in Jalisco? There’s only one way to find out. Tune in…
