Worldwide alliance of Airport Security personnel meet in Puerto Vallarta, May 20 - 23
The Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) carries out one of the most important civil aviation safety events in the world every year. From May 20 to 23, more than 350 specialists of eleven nationalities meet in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, analyzing airport security.
In this edition, GAP has joined forces with the International Bureau of Information and Business (BIIN), a Latin American firm of business excellence, dedicated to the education and development of professionals.
With this alliance, two great events are joined, the IX edition of the Civil Aviation Security Forum, organized by GAP and the III International Aviation Security Forum, convened by BIIN.
What began at the beginning of this decade as a meeting of security chiefs convened by the GAP to share experiences and good practices, has reached a call that exceeds this year the 350 experts, national and international authorities, airlines, airport groups, companies security, equipment manufacturers and distributors.
This edition includes a specific action oriented to risk analysis and thanks to the alliance with BIIN, incorporates the training component, with which the event becomes a highly specialized symposium.
Security for GAP is alive, changing, dynamic, perfectible, part of a process of continuous improvement. Through this meeting, GAP promotes the joint and orderly evolution of the sector.
"The risks are shared and transcend frontiers, and; we operate under the same rules and regulations, so it is important that those of us who work in civil aviation are integrated, communicated and united. It is our responsibility to contribute to the construction of a safer world, "said Raúl Revuelta, General Director of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico.
GAP has set the goal of this meeting, to leave in the mind of the assistants that the security must be compatible with the experience of the passenger. The kind service of the personnel that works along the value chain, must avoid that the security is invasive and annoying.
Raúl Revuelta said in the forum that "the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico will make a historic investment in safety equipment for 1,750 mp. We launched the tender this year. We want to bring the latest in technology in order to be able to make both major objectives compatible, guarantee safety, while providing the best travel experience for passengers. "
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico, S.A.B. of C.V. (GAP) is a Mexican company that develops its activity in the airport sector. GAP operates 12 international airports in Mexico and two in Jamaica, serving more than 330 destinations, through 35 airlines. Its shares are listed on the stock exchanges of Mexico and New York.
In 2018, GAP served 44.9 million passengers, 10.4% more than in 2017.
The airports managed by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico are located at:
- Guadalajara and Tijuana, serving the main metropolitan areas.
- Mexicali, Hermosillo, Los Mochis, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato and Morelia, serving medium-sized developing cities.
- La Paz, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo and Montego Bay, serving some of the most important tourist destinations in the country and the Caribbean.
- On October 10, 2018, GAP signed the concession contract with the Government of Jamaica to operate, modernize and expand the Norman Manley International Airport ("KIN") in the city of Kingston.
The airports that GAP manages in Mexico are owned by the Mexican government, assigned in concession for 50 years from 1998, as part of a national initiative to privatize and improve the quality and safety of airport services in the country.
In Jamaica, the Montego Bay airport is owned by the government and the concession granted to operate it is for a period of 30 years, which will end in April 2033; Kingston Airport was granted a concession for 25 years, GAP takes control of the operation and administration of this in the fourth quarter of 2019.
