Wesmex Regatta Announced With More Than 200 Sailboats

Vallarta Yacht Club announced the opening of the 16th WesMex International Small Boat Regatta and welcomed competitors to the event. They are expecting a great participation for this event in 2022. WesMex will be the second of the 2 qualifiers that will determine the composition of the teams for the Optimist 2022 North American Championship and the Optimist 2022 World Championship. In addition, it will be the qualifier for the following ILCA Class events: 1).-ILCA 6 Youth WC Shoreacres, TX, USA July 23-30, 2022. 2) - ILCA 4 Youth WC Vilamoura, Portugal, August 13-20, 2022. 3) -ILCA 6 Women WC Qingdao, China, October 10-17, 2022; World Championship. 4) -ILCA 6 Men, Qingdao, China, October 10-17, 2022.

"We are especially honored that the iQ Foil class has chosen to make this their 2022 North American Championship. In an attempt to grow the class in North America, we look forward to seeing competitors in the iQ Foil Class from Mexico, the United States and Canada and possibly parts of Europe." In addition, an invitation has been sent to the Formula Kite class to join WesMex in an effort to provide the opportunity to train and compete in Mexico and promote this Olympic class throughout the country. It should be noted that this event is held every year and attracts hundreds of participants from around the world to compete for the international championship with fearless sailing and colorful sailboats that adorn the bay.
