Which means more than 93 percent of the doses received to date have already been applied to someome's arm.
Two years ago, Saturday, March 14, 2020, the Government of Jalisco confirmed its first two cases of infection caused by SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus arrived in the entity through two women residents of the municipality of Zapopan, who weeks before had made an international trip. "Since January (2020) we reinforced our epidemiological surveillance system and we were on alert for possible contagions, six weeks earlier we had found the first suspected case in the entire state, a man from Los Altos (Jalisco) who traveled to Wuhan, China, place of origin of the unknown disease and although he tested negative we knew it was inevitable that the virus would arrive," recalled the head of the Ministry of Health of Jalisco (SSJ), Fernando Petersen Aranguren. The solidarity and joint efforts between the state government, civil society, health experts, academics, the media, the University of Guadalajara and other higher education institutions, as well as the private sector in Jalisco, were evident from the moment the first cases were confirmed and the first prevention measures were taken.
For this reason, the Minister of Health expressed through a video message, the gratitude of the State Government to the population living in the state of Jalisco. In two years, a total of 577,072 cases of infection by the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Jalisco (as of 1:00 p.m. on March 14, 2022), more than two million infections have been ruled out through the application of tests (2,024,655 ruled out) and 19,096 deaths from this disease have been recorded. Today, for the second consecutive day, no new deaths were reported. Thanks to the extraordinary effort made to this day by the people of Jalisco, the state managed to avoid one less wave of cases: "In Jalisco we had three waves, while the country had four, which means more lives saved," exposed the Secretary of Health. He added that in Jalisco there are four pillars that have sustained the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic: the strengthening of epidemiological surveillance to know where the cases are, give them attention and isolate them to cut chains of transmission of contagions; the empowerment of public health through the Jalisco RADAR System and the performance of tests and more tests; the timely and early recommendation of the correct use of masks and finally, in collaboration with the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Welfare and the Ministry of National Defense, the application of the vaccine against the new coronavirus. "We have applied more than 10 million doses, covering seven out of every 10 people over 18 years of age in Jalisco, which means more than 93 percent of the doses received to date have already been applied to someone's arm," he said. Petersen Aranguren lamented the high cost of the pandemic, particularly in terms of loss of life, as well as in the number of patients with complications and sequelae caused by COVID-19. For this reason, after thanking the population for assuming their responsibility and complying with the preventive measures, he invited them not to lower their guard yet
