Puerto Vallarta’s Mardi Gras Carnival has been celebrated since 2009, with a small halt in 2013, but is now making a triumphant return for 2014 and is expected to be enjoyed by more than 10,000 spectators.
The fun, colorful, glittery, bead-hurling parade will kick off on Tuesday March 4th at 9 p.m. in front of the Sheraton Hotel and travel south to the malecon, through “Old Town” and wind up in Olas Altas and Rodolfo Gomez.
All parade entrants are now asked to ‘stage’ their vehicles, floats and participants on the entrance road in front of the Sheraton Hotel by 7:30 p.m. For those entries concerned about the additional length of the parade, provisions have been made to have those participants join us at Parque Hidalgo.
HISTORY OF PUERTO VALLARTA’S MARDI GRAS PARADE
The Mardi Gras Carnival began in 2009, founded and funded by Peter Deep its first three years, who retired from running the parade in 2012, however, that year the carnival still brought in a prominent number of participants with over 60 entries for the parade that year, perhaps its biggest one until this year.
In 2013, the parade had a small halt, but this 2014, the carnival is returning in a big way. The Mardi Gras Carnival committee would like to invite you to join its sponsors and entires, such as Café des Artistes, INTERCAM, ALAS Escuela de Canto , PVRPV.com, The Dog House, Reinas Bar, Gay Guide Vallarta, Casa Isabel, Bar Frida, SETAC, Casa Cupula, ACT II, Nacho Daddy, The Palm Cabaret, The Red Room Cabaret, Paco’s Ranch, Art Vallarta, Apaches/Apaches Bistro, Mara Diaz Gallery, Banderas Soap Blends, Salud, RK Supplement, PV Mens Chorus, Ángeles en Libertad, International Friendship Club and others in the fun and glittery celebration.
