More than 1 million people received booster vaccination against covid-19 in Jalisco

Almost 1 million 300 thousand people over 30 years of age (1 million 295 thousand) have gone for the COVID-19 booster at the different modules set up in Jalisco. The progress is only 3 weeks after the extra dose was extended to this age range. For the time being, the state platform remains open for the population 30 years of age and older to obtain an appointment and go for the booster vaccine. This day there are also appointments available for the coverage of adolescents from 15 to 17 years old and to apply second doses of AstraZeneca to those who are already due by date. Regarding the Cansino vaccine, which is now being applied as a booster, the Ministry of Health of Jalisco (SSJ) reminds the population that it is a biological vaccine approved by the federal health authorities and included in the National Vaccination Plan, as it is a safe vaccine that has proven to be effective in protecting people from serious complications and the risk of death due to the infection of the new coronavirus.

During epidemiological week 8 of this year (from February 20 to 26), a total of 77,444 people received a dose of the vaccine to protect them against COVID-19. During this period, 39 thousand 657 doses were provided by AstraZeneca laboratories (for second and delayed doses); 17 thousand 296 by Moderna (for second doses); 12 thousand 404 by Pfizer-BioNTech laboratories (for adolescents); 7 thousand 987 by Cansino pharmaceuticals (for booster for people over 30) and 100 by Sinovac (applied for second doses). The SSJ asks the population to be attentive to the page vacunación.jalisco.gob.mx and the social networks of the agency, where the calls are announced. Details of the current vaccination days can also be consulted at: https://coronavirus.jalisco.gob.mx/ruta-de-la-vacunacion/.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES The pandemic is still active; therefore, it is reminded that even if vaccinated, all people should use masks properly in enclosed spaces, keep a distance of 1.5 meters between people, wash hands frequently with soap and water or use 70% alcohol gel, and avoid crowds and enclosed spaces without ventilation whenever possible. In case of presenting mild symptoms or having been in close contact with a COVID-19 positive person, it is recommended to isolate immediately and go to the doctor, who will determine if a test is required. In case of persistent cough, respiratory distress, fever that does not subside or blood oxygenation less than 92, you should go to an emergency unit and not wait for a confirmatory test of the infection. WEEKLY CUT According to data from the SSJ, during epidemiological week 08 of this year, 7,986 new infections were reported in Jalisco (45.2% less new cases compared to those reported the previous week), for a cumulative total of 564,119 cases as of February 26. In addition, 192 deaths were reported for a total of 18,861 deaths registered so far in the pandemic up to February 26. The deaths could have occurred days ago, due to delays in hospital notification.
