You’ve recently seen a lot of hype about the Friday night Magic Market at Puerto Magico. Well, that’s because it’s totally awesome!! And better yet, it is very specifically Puro Mexicano. Every vendor there has been meticulously chosen for their solely Mexican products.

I spoke with Teresita Gonzales, Magic Manager of Magic Market participants. She told me this project has been in the works since January and was planned to begin next spring, but then the Covid disruption occurred. Now that people are starting to go back out and live their lives again, it is the perfect time to get it going. Puerto Magico offers ample space for social distancing while still having fun, and gives the artists a place to display their goods that they have not had for several months. 

The project is intended to promote local and social development towards a solidarity economy. Vendors come from all over the region, bringing many different types of products for a complete experience. Besides the beautifully handcrafted artisanal products, you can find clothing, handbags, beauty care products, health care products, superfood products, baked goods, candies and ice creams, and healthy freshly prepared food. Magic Market has provided an opportunity for persons with original ideas and inspirations to become a reality.

Vendors must first complete an application, and then they will be granted an interview where they can present their products for consideration. There are strict standards by which only Puro Mexicano products and food will be permitted, and this is further supervised at the event. Teresita has been working with these types of vendors for 8 years, and we have her to thank for many of them, but anyone can apply. Just click on any of the links below for more information. Performing artists are welcome to apply as well, as Magic Market is also a fun Friday festival with free entertainment. Magic Market opens at 4:00 on Friday afternoons, and we hope to see you there. It is held at Puerto Magico, Puerto Vallarta’s new cruise ship terminal. Admission and parking are free, just bring your appetite and your eye for authentic Mexican art.
