According to the Washinghton Post; this could affect the company's infrastructure

The tycoon Elon Musk has plans to get rid of 75% of the staff working at Twitter to leave it at about 2,000 people, according to The Washington Post, which claims to have obtained documents on the latest talks between the billionaire and potential investors that will help him close the purchase of the social network.

The newspaper also assures that, even if the purchase is not formalized, the company will undertake large staff cuts that would reach approximately a quarter of the 7,500 workers.

No other media has yet echoed these plans, nor has Musk reacted through his Twitter account.

The newspaper points out that these cuts may affect the network's ability to control harmful or offensive content - such as child pornography, for example - as well as to prevent breaches in content security.

According to the documents consulted by the Post and testimonies from other sources, the cuts would not only affect the staff, but also the company's infrastructure, and specifically the data centers that enable the operation of this network, which is consulted daily by more than 200 million users.

These cuts - the newspaper continues - are what explain the anxiety with which Twitter has tried to close the sale to Musk for 44 billion dollars, as this would make the current management team leave the most painful decisions to the new team.

A data science expert contacted by the Post noted that if the cuts are confirmed, they will bring a "cascading effect": poorer services, fewer support staff and a growing demoralization of the remaining staff, who have already been uncertain for months about Musk's continued back-and-forth on the matter.

If there are no new chapters in this Twitter novel, the purchase by Musk will be closed on October 28, and on that day Musk will become the sole owner of the Twitter network and will be able to carry out all his plans.
