Tips for your pet's well-being.

Puerto Vallarta is a very diverse city, with mountains, rivers, beaches, and urban spaces; that is why there is a great variety of lifestyles for pets. However, it is important to know that there are some factors to consider when bathing our dog.

Firstly, we must understand that dogs are very different from cats, especially in this aspect of bathing. Cats should not be bathed very frequently, unlike dogs, which are animals that we can bathe more frequently, additionally because dogs do not groom themselves like cats, and dogs are exposed to much more dirt than cats due to their ways of living.

One should never consider a dog to be like a human who usually bathes every day. The fur and skin of our dogs have completely different characteristics from ours, therefore, they should not be bathed very frequently. The most advisable thing is that we can bathe our dog every 25 or 30 days, this is the most frequent we should bathe them.

A bath every month is ideal for our pets. It is not recommended to bathe them so often because we can cause dermatological conditions, the fur can lose its shine, and even our furry friend can start to smell very bad. Many people bathe their dogs every 8 days or even every 15 days, and wonder: Why does my dog smell bad? Why doesn't it have shiny fur? The thing is, dogs need to retain certain fats and elements within their fur and skin; and if we bathe them too often we can remove all of this and their dermatological health can deteriorate.

Many times, dogs that are very loved by the family also receive a lot of attention, and we think we are doing them a lot of good by bathing them often, when in reality, all we cause is the appearance of fungi and dermatitis in our furry friends.

When it happens that the dog was bathed two days ago and then gets dirty or muddy, don't worry, nothing will happen if they are bathed on this occasion, meaning that occasionally they can break the routine and nothing will happen.

Now, since we live on the beach, and there is a pool nearby, it is very possible that dogs get used to going into the sea or the pool, for these cases, it is very important to understand that it will be different, as the sea has minerals that can affect the skin and the same goes for pool chlorine. In this case, it is important to bathe the dog more frequently as they should not remain with sand, seawater, or pool water as this could also damage their skin and deteriorate their fur. It is advisable to rinse the furry friend every time they go into the pool or the sea.
