Puerto Vallarta Awakens with a Beautiful Rainbow

It began on the night of June 26th with a gentle breeze that moistened the land of Puerto Vallarta and carried that distinct aroma as a warning to seek shelter. As the night grew darker, nature put an end to the long drought that had brought unbearable heat. The night was a marvel, as the light rain gradually transformed into a storm. Even some sunshades couldn't bear the weight of the water and collapsed. The rain announced its return, answering the prayers and longings of those who awaited its arrival.

After official figures from CONAGUA revealed Jalisco as the state with the most extreme drought, with 56 out of its 125 municipalities suffering from severe drought, and ranking fourth in severe drought, where 68 municipalities in Jalisco are facing terrible problems, our municipality of Puerto Vallarta resisted being included in these negative statistics, despite experiencing powerful temperatures of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in our port. On the other hand, CONAGUA places Puerto Vallarta as a Tourist Center outside the drought categories, despite the nearly dried-up rivers, delays in planting annual crops, and occasional significant fires.

Fortunately, today we woke up to a rainbow and streets filled with puddles, bringing a humidity that refreshes the mind and beautiful images formed in the sky thanks to the illuminated white clouds as the sun rises. Mother Nature is expressing that she will not abandon us, leaving behind the presence of water, a vital and sacred element that we must care for, respect, and protect through rivers, seas, and lakes.

The drought is over; it is time to be mindful of our water usage.
